Event Description:
Immune dysfunction is a common underlying factor in many chronic conditions seen in small animal practice, including allergic disease, food sensitivities, and immune-mediated disorders. This 50-minute continuing education session is designed for small animal veterinarians with minimal prior experience in herbal medicine and provides a structured, evidence-informed introduction to immune dysregulation and supportive care strategies.
The first portion of the program will review the science of immune dysfunction, focusing on mechanisms involved in autoimmunity, hypersensitivity reactions, chronic inflammation, and altered immune tolerance. Nutritional and botanical ingredients commonly used to support immune balance will be discussed. Emphasis will be placed on understanding mechanisms of action, clinical relevance, and safety considerations.
The second portion of the session will apply these concepts through clinical case examples from small animal practice, illustrating how immune-supportive strategies may be integrated alongside conventional care.
